HOME Showcase
This one-day popup showcase on September 23rd 2023 was our second time creating an open call and curating a show featuring local artists. Featuring the artworks of many amazing DMV artists, this showcase was curated by Marshall McGrigg and was a resounding success, featuring both art and local vendors in partnership with Landmark PM at the Beethoven apartments.
McGrigg's Curatorial statement:
"As someone who has often lived in transient spaces, it has become increasingly apparent that the word home is starkly unique in its connotations. There is a difference between going to your house and going home. Something so deeply personal and entirely unique to the individual. Home can be a person, a place, a feeling. More often than not it is nostalgic, something yearned for, a safehaven to return to. Whether that be where you grew up, where you are now, or someplace you look forward to in the future. Home can be found in community, in solitude, in family (found or otherwise). The Welsh word Hiraeth describes a homesickness or longing for a home you cannot return to, or maybe never existed at all. The Danish word hygge describes a feeling of safety and security, a coziness that only comes with being home. While we might lack the words to property express the complex emotions tied to these memories and spaces, these nuances can still be captured and shared primarily through the arts. Home is the longing nagging feeling at the nape of your neck, home is where you crash at the end of the day, home is where you flash smiles to your close friends on a late night. Whatever home may mean to you there is one thing we all share surrounding it that we are looking to capture - It feels like home."

How Gently We Decompose
This one-day popup showcase on June 10th, 2023 was our first time working with Landmark PM. Featuring the artworks of Lydia Ethem, Robert Wesley, and Natalia Sonia, this showcase was born of a chance encounter on a rainy day- literally.
Collective President Natalia crossed paths with our venue contact, Christine, while carrying a painting to their solo showcase. Christine stopped Natalia, and said, "If you ever want to do an art show, give me a call!" Natalia reached out to two friends and artists- and the rest is history!
